| Goal | Author-documented tool | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Ultrawide black bars, HUD positioning, font or post-processing settings | PolarWizard’s Final Fantasy Resonance Fix | Windows-specific ASI project. |
| Installing and configuring packs, inspecting conflicts or creating mods | FFR Modding Tools on Nexus Mods | Early toolkit with its own loader and version requirements. |
Do not install both simply because they are listed together. Identify the specific change you need and begin with one tool. Keep its version, installation files and configuration in your notes so a later problem can be reproduced.
Resonance Fix: source-build installation
The author’s README uses Ultimate ASI Loader and a Rust release build. Its documented game target is:
FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE/FFRS/Binaries/Win64/
For the manual route:
- Build the author’s project with
cargo build --release. - Place the x64 loader’s
winmm.dllbesideFFRS-Win64-Shipping.exe, following the loader instructions. - Create
scriptsbeneath thatWin64directory. - Copy the built fix DLL there and name it
final_fantasy_resonance_fix.asi. - On the first installation, copy
final_fantasy_resonance_fix.tomlinto the samescriptsdirectory. Preserve your existing configuration during later updates.
The author provides Python helper scripts as an alternative. Use the exact project PolarWizard/final-fantasy-resonance-fix and its documentation to obtain the intended source or release; this site does not mirror it. The README explicitly targets Windows. This guide does not extend that claim to Proton, macOS or console editions.
FFR Modding Tools: manager workflow
The author describes installing the manager, letting it detect the Steam game and importing supported packs or archives. “Setup Game Mappings” is a development step, not a requirement to change an ordinary player’s game data manually.
The changelog for 0.9.4 reports support for full-release data and a Linux/Steam Deck build. That is a version-specific author claim; it does not verify every current pack or game patch. Older description text still calls the tool a demo-era release. Read the changelog for the actual package you obtain rather than treating those two descriptions as interchangeable.
Test a change and recover from it
- Start from a working unmodified launch and keep a separate save backup.
- Record exactly which files a loader or tool adds before installing the next one.
- Test a cosmetic change on a disposable save when possible. Save editors and item-granting features are different from a display fix.
- If the game stops launching, disable the last change first. For the manager, the author documents a Bypass Mods option; for an ASI setup, move only the known added fix files out of the game directory.
- Do not delete an unfamiliar DLL merely because its name appears in a generic removal guide. Check your installation record, then verify base game files if needed.
No listed mod has been executed or compatibility-tested by this site. There is no blanket promise about achievements, anti-tamper behavior, future patches or compatibility between third-party loaders.
