No. Leviathan joins through Nichol’s Duty, the optional Olderion quest available with chapter-5 airship access. The earlier story encounter is not the summon-acquisition check.
How do you start the investigation?
Speak to Nichol in Olderion and question the fishermen near the shops. Then follow the active quest through Lake Dorr, southeastern Olderion and Cave of Waters before returning to the lake.
The route changes area several times. If the log still asks about the fishermen, complete that city conversation rather than flying straight to the encounter marker. If it names the cave, revisit the marked cave scene before the final lake return.
What do you receive?
The quest awards Enchanted Ring, an attribute bonus for Nichol and the Leviathan summon. Confirm the summon has been added in the game’s Esper menu. A completed boss fight or a manually ticked browser box cannot verify acquisition by itself.
Does this resolve Nichol’s dialogue choice?
His Olderion dialogue-choice comparison is a separate event. Its disputed HP amount should not be confused with the reward from this personal quest.
For completion planning, this one route contributes to both the personal-substory objective and the all-Espers objective. Check each against the actual quest and summon menus before updating your notes.
